How Will We Grow?
As we begin the year of 2005, it is a good time to reflect on how
we want to see
the
church at
Grow in complacency? — It is easy when we experience growth to become
complacent and
not strive as we should. Whenever you begin to feel complacent, read
Paul’s words in Philippians 3:12-14. We, like him, should always
be reaching forward
to
greater things for the cause of Christ and not grow in complacency.
Grow in apathy? — One does not wake up one morning having gone from
being
fervent in service to a state of apathy. One gradually “grows” into a spirit of
apathy. Let
us not grow in apathy, but grow in zeal as we serve the Lord (Titus 2:14).
Grow in work? — We should have the goal of growing in our work for the
Lord. There is always more we all can be doing. A good attitude
was displayed by
Epaphroditus who almost “worked himself to death” for the cause
of Christ.
Grow inwardly and outwardly? — We should seek to be strengthened as a
congregation
of the Lord’s people. We do so by study and the encouragement we offer
one
another. We should also seek to teach others that the Lord might add them to
His
church.
Truthfully we are saved to save others.
Let’s make 2005 the best year yet in
our service to God!
